Review: Red Dead Redemption 2

A staple in most teenagers’ lives is video games, and there’s always a debate on what’s the best game to play.

I am here to submit Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR 2) as the best video game to play.

RDR 2 has been out for a few years now, and lots of people already know this game as a wild west version of GTA 5.  Lately they have been adding new aspects to the game where players may start their own businesses to make lots of money to rule the game.  On top of the online side of the game, there is a traditional story mission that takes you through the life of Arthur Morgan and his endeavors with the law.

RDR 2 has already won multiple awards for the gameplay and story that goes along with the game.  The game has also received  96 percent approval from people who have played the game. Part of that incredible rating is the lack of downtime the game gives players. There is always something to do.  Many of the online “roles” are very busy and allow for very little time to sit around. The story mission is very in-depth and includes six “chapters” and two “epilogues.” Each chapter offers the average player over five hours of playing time.

There are five roles in Red Dead online including- Bounty Hunter, Trader, Collector, Moonshiner, and Naturalist. There are also new Telegram missions that were added where players can complete three telegram missions at different difficulty levels. Each role has different aspects to it such as where the Bounty Hunter role players are tasked with catching wanted criminals compared to the Naturalist role where players are tasked with studying animals and collecting research about each species in the game, where there are nearly 200 unique animal species.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is the perfect game for people who don’t like the super aggressive behavior of people in GTA but still would like to enjoy earning money and different online events. While playing, I typically spend most of my time in the online mode because it offers such a vast amount of things to do and is very fun for me to always be improving my character with new clothes and by upgrading my businesses. Players can get so involved in the game and create a very close group of friends, each unique in playing styles, but still get along. There are so many ways to be successful in this game that almost anyone who plays is a winner.

My final score of the game is 10/10 because in all three years that I have been playing this game, I have never gotten bored with it, and the updates are always adding new, fun, gameplay that can completely change how I play the game.  This is definitely a game that everyone should try at least once.
