Girls golf places at Conference

With the fall sports season coming to an end, girls golf finished third place at Conference.
“Individually, we had a lot of success at the Conference Tournament. Morgan Atwell, Janie Schulz, and Bethany Cardenas all finished in the top ten,” said varsity head coach Scott Ewen.
Several girls on the team placed during Conference, which was a goal the team had been working on.
“I played well. I shot consistently and I earned a medal. I placed ninth in the conference,” said senior Bethany Cardenas.
Cardenas’ best match was against Dundee Crown, where she shot a 49. Senior Savannah Guenther also shot a 49 in that match.
As team, the girls best matches were against Antioch and Grant.
“We always shot well against them when we played them. One of my favorite matches was actually against Grant. We were missing some top players due to illness, but still came together to win and even had one of our lowest team scores of the year,” Guenther said.
The girls team worked on many things in practice. Guenther, along with her teammates, worked on swings and making good contact with the ball.
Both girls said that the best memories of the golf season as a whole was the team’s meals which was before away games.
“Those were always the best. It definitely helped our team bonding,” Guenther said.
