Boys soccer starts off the season with five wins under their.
“In a given season there are usually between seventeen and twenty-four games,” junior Logan Holevas said.
The team has bonded together on and off the field and has built a family-like culture.
“We bond a lot in general just every day at practice. We’re also talking and joking around during stretches, and it’s always a competition in every drill. Off the field, we have pasta parties almost every week where we eat, talk, and get excited about the game the next day,” said senior Will Meyer.
Their inspiration comes from working hard and being a role model.
“It inspires me to do good because as a captain everyone looks up to you. Not just the players on your team, but the players on the lower levels, the kids that are striving to be in your shoes. You have to be a positive role model and acknowledge their progress on and off the field,” Holevas said.
When playing a sport, you have your strengths and your weaknesses that really bring teams together.
“As a team, we are very, very hard working and have really spent a lot in our short time together. On the field, we’d do anything for each other and have trust in everyone. Our technical ability may not be as good across the board as every team we play, but we make up for it with our hustle and hard work throughout each game,” Meyer said.
Some of their goals this season are to win the NLCC and Regional Championship.
“My main goal for every team and or individual I work with is to be better today, than they (we) were yesterday… always improving. In terms of tangible goals, we hope to win the NLCC, as well as a Regional Championship, as our boys are certainly capable of winning both of those competitions,” said head coach Adam DeCaluwe.
