Girls bowling team advances to Sectionals

Girls bowling took second place at Regionals on Saturday qualifying the team for Sectionals on February 13.

Individually, Gaby Silva placed third. Payton Bertermann placed 11th, and Jessica Vaughn placed 12th at Regionals.

“I am preparing for Sectionals by working on one thing at a time. The number one thing that helps fix problems is the number of reps you do while doing the correct motions,” said junior bowler Payton Bertermann.

The team also won Conference. Individually, Jessica Vaughn placed first with a 1318. Payton Bertermann placed third with a 1210, and Gaby Silva placed fourth with 1162.

“I’m very proud of how we bowled at our conference. We have improved our game so much. We can’t wait to bowl at Regionals,” said sophomore Gaby Silva.

The bowlers have many new members that are all sharing their passion for bowling.

“This year we had a lot of new students try out for bowling instead of continuing bowlers. It’s nice to know that our bowling team will definitely continue throughout the years,” Silva said.

The girls bowling team has had several new members who have really made an impact on the varsity’s scores.

“This year we have two new starting varsity members, Ashley Rager and Taylor Bell. It’s really exciting to get new kids and watch them become passionate about bowling,” Bertermann said.

The team has taken many steps to improve not only their bowling skills but also to encourage team spirit throughout their season.

“Our whole team has improved so much, and we are so proud of each other on how far we’ve all come,” Silva said.

Many members of the team have had personal records broken and are looking forward to more success for the rest of their season.

“I recently bowled my highest three game series, 637, averaging 212, and my highest 6 game series, 1137, averaging a 190,” Bertermann said.

The bowling team has also made many team goals that they have set and are close to achieving

“Our highest team game currently is 984, only 16 pins away from the 1000 that we are aiming for,” Bertermann said
